Repetition of events every day brings monotony in life but thats how routine life generally is, so we decided to plan a vacation. We love to explore culture & history so we decided to go to Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Rajasthan is well known for its cultural and traditional values. We decide to go jodhpur.

Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan, truly a travellers delight. Jodhpur is also known as blue city because of the blue exterior and interior of the houses, restaurants etc. Well it hold some scientific reasons behind the blue exteriors, as it was soothing & soft to the eyes for the king & its people to look down the city in the day time as the palace – Mehrangarh Palace is situated on some high rocky mountain from where the whole city is visible .

~ Day 1

After long journey of 12 hours we reached jodhpur station, early morning, there we took a Auto Rickshaw to our stay for next 2 nights –  “yogi’s guest house”.

We chose this Guest House as it was situated in the middle of the old town of jodhpur, Which is an 300 years old building & gives magnificent view of fort from the roof,
It was deep inside the town through narrow beautiful streets all painted with blue and orange with all antiques and wooden work on the buildings.

In the old town if you look up – there is the Fort and if you look town there is clock tower & Sardar bazar Like old times !

Finally we were at the Yogi’s guest house , The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful and room had a very traditional touch to it, We chose to stay in a Deluxe Room.

In lawn area there was a red vintage car giving you complete feel of maharajah. We were welcomed by the owner of guest house with whom we exchanged a few email priorly . We mostly book our hotel through Goibibo App, thus we booked Yogi guest house from there too.

You can also book Yogi Guest House for yourself too, just Click the link here – Yogi Guest House

We rested for sometime then we were ready to explore the city.

Starting with Mehrengarh fort-
we entered the fort, Bought tickets and Audio guide (Apparently we later learnt that male guide was availed too but we already paid for Audio guide by then).

Tickets with Audio Guide cost Rs.170 for Indians
Normal tickets were for 100
For the Male-Guide you had to pay additional Rs.400 to know the history about fort.

One requires at-least 2 to 3 hours to complete the the tour of this magnificent fort.
Fort was huge and made of red marble. it has museums, handicrafts stores, cafes and restaurants inside- worthy for tourists.

Inside the fort there were 33 points to know about (As per Audio Guide) with the help of map and audio guide it was easy for us to know about the history of the fort.

The main highlights of Mehrangarh are-

Sheesh mahal, Phool Mahal, Takht Singh palace.

There are rooms exhibiting the collections of palanquins, chariots, armours and paintings. Beauty of each room is defining them in terms of structures, patterns and ideas.

Fort also provide some source of entertainment like folk singers sitting in the corner with tabla. Some Rajasthani folk singers were on the entrance with their sarangi In their hand sound of which we cannot forget.

As you reach the top of fort you can see the whole city at one glance. City seems blue from looking down from  the top of the fort

We were feeling so peaceful in fort .After whole day of walking inside the fort we got tired and get back to hotel have simple dinner and slept.
