Day 3

IMG_5541 (1).jpg

We were on vacation so there was no hurry to get up early and run for breakfast. We woke up at 9:30 am starting the day with daily morning activities and breakfast.

Got ready and headed towards the Umaid bhavan palace.

Umaid Bhavan palace

The road to Umaid Bhavan still have that regal feel and it was amazing experience to be there. The entry fee is just Rs 30 , too less for such a property though !
in Umaid Bhawan you can visit exhibition hall, royal courtyard and clock collection museum.

Umaid Bhavan is now divided into three parts.

1/3 part of it has been converted into a museum, which is open for public and do remember the closing time of museum is 5:00pm so don’t get late.

1/3 part of it is converted into Umaid Bhawan hotel which as per our knowlege is managed by Taj Group.

& in the 1/3rd part of palace the royal family continues to reside. Umaid Bhavan palace is huge and beautiful property with lovely garden.

The main hall has in it paintings , photographs and models of royal family members respectively. There is also a tv inside the hall offering the virtual tour of palace. By only visiting this part of the palace one can imagine how lavish this entire palace is and the lives of the royal family.

The clock museum has variety of clocks from all around the world that comes from Umaid singh a personal collection. Further we proceeded to visit the vintage car museum, situated in the premises of Umaid bhawan.

The car were looking so brand new to believe them as vintage cars. Well maintained with their names , model no, and the year.

To see and to know about the lavish life of Royal family you must visit the Umaid Bhavan palace.

Now we are returning back to hotel, meanwhile we visited the one of the most famous toor ji ka Jhalra is a nice, but not as clean as it should be stepwell. There are fishes inside the well. It was 5 minutes far from our hotel, easy to see the well because of in crowded place . You may visit it casually without any ticket or rules. It’s too deep inside to scare anyone when seen from a certain height. And especially if you don’t know how to swim then don’t take risk to get much closer to well or don’t go downstairs just for fun.

We also visited it very carefully, clicked pictures and then came back to hotel to get some sleep. Next morning we have to leave for our next staying location. And it’s high time to say goodnight.

We stayed in Garden Room, We think it was best decision to stay in garden room as everything .. the Pool . Restaurant everything was near by from these rooms.

Though it is outside the city but stay is worth here. This property takes you back in time. Just imagine rooms on a lake, trees all around, historical buildings, pin drop silence, chirping of the birds, peacocks all around. We loved the place and definitely you will. Staff are just so welcoming at the reception, room service or at the restaurant. In front of rooms, was the nightly open air buffet-in candle lit sitting, its upto you whether you want to enjoy the candle light supper or want to eat in relaxing state in the restaurant. No restrictions.

IMG_5922.jpgThe property is so huge that makes you difficult and confusing walking alone in the property.

There are so many facilities to feel the royal palace –

Lake

Swimming pool

BAL SAMAND LAKE PALACE was our last stop in Jodhpur. It was like icing on the cake.

Special Mentions :

~ Mr. Sawai Singh Ji.

In the restaurant at Balsamand we met Sawai Singh ji – He has given 40 years of his life serving the royal family at Jodhpur – 30 year at Umaid bhawan & 10 years at this Balsamand Lake palace – He is supposed to retire within a few years.
He was so sweet to talk to he briefed us about royal family, Umaid Bhawan Property & History and ofcourse about the Balsamand Palace. & he kept prasing the Present King Throughout like a fan – “Raja ji bohot acche aadmi hai”

~ The lady at the reception

The check out timing at the BAL SAMAND LAKE PALACE is 12 Hours but we had our train back home at 20 Hours so the manager at the Place offered as a complimentary a guest house room at the property to stay in for the hours in between. This gesture of their’s was the best thing ever which made the last memory of Jodhpur even sweeter.
